Baptism
There may be no more controversial subject in all the “Christian” world then “baptism”. Some sprinkle, some pore and some immerse, what is right? Does it matter? Also many differ as to the purpose of baptism. Some believe that baptism is just an “outward sign of a inward commitment”. Others believe that once “you believe in and call on the name of Jesus” then after you are saved you get baptized into their denomination. Others believe that you must to be baptized to be saved but baptize babies. Others baptize “for the forgiveness of sins” but only baptize those who are penitent believers. Who is right? Or is everyone right? In the weeks to come we will attempt to answer these questions and more concerning baptism. It is our goal in this study to seek Bible answers for the questions that confront us. The questions we will deal with in the next few weeks will be “What is the Mode of Baptism?” and then “Who is to be baptized?” and last “What is the purpose of Baptism? “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’”
